The scholarship is intended to finance the first year of the Master's degree programme.
Scholarship holders shall be enabled to finance the second year of their Master’s degree programme with a paid internship, which is also part of the curriculum.
Target group
Students who:
- have completed a Bachelor’s degree in an eligible field of study in one of the countries/regions listed above
- can prove very good English language skills: level B2 or C1, depending on the desired study programme
(Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR)
- are not resident in Austria at the time of application, and who
- want to pursue one of the following Master's degree programmes at the University of Klagenfurt:
The University of Klagenfurt aims to increase the proportion of women students in technical sciences and therefore specifically invites qualified women to apply for a Technology Scholarship.
Given a sufficient number of applications, 50% of available scholarships will be awarded to women applicants.
Application
The following documents have to be uploaded within the online application
:• Scan of a valid passport (page with the name and photo)
to one of the above listed Master's degree programme
• Bachelor’s Certificate* and Transcript of Records of Bachelor’s degree programme
*In the case that applicants haven’t completed their Bachelor’s degree at the time of application, the graduation confirmation/Bachelor Certificate must be provided at the latest by February 28th, 2025.
For EU and EEA citizens, the graduation confirmation/Bachelor's Certificate must be provided at the latest by mid-June 2025.
• Complete Bachelor thesis (copy of original)
• Abstract of Bachelor thesis in German or English
• Proof of English skills: Level B2 or C1 (CEFR), depending on the desired study programme (C1 level is required for Master´s degree programme in Game Studies and Engineering)
Level B2:
- Successful completion of the subject English at the level of the Austrian Matura/school
leaving examination (provided in the form of an Austrian certificate of the final school
year)
- Successful completion of the subject English as part of the school leaving examination at
a school in a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area,
Switzerland, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States
of America, Australia, New Zealand or Canada. If the level B2 (CEFR) of English is not
explicitly stated on the school-leaving certificate, corresponding confirmation from the
school administration may be requested.
- Austrian certificate testifying the right to study, including a pass in English at level B2
- Completion of a study programme conducted in English and lasting at least two years at
a recognised post-secondary educational institution in a member state of the European
Union or the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, Australia, New Zealand or Canada
OR
Certificate (must not be older than two years at the time of application for admission):
- TOEFL iBT (minimum score 87)
- IELTS (minimum overall band score 6.5 & at least 6 for each individual assessment area)
- Cambridge English: First Certificate in English (FCE) or B2 First (result Level B2) or higher
Level C1:
- Completion of a study programme conducted in English and lasting at least two years at a recognised post-secondary educational institution in a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, Australia, New Zealand or Canada.
OR
Certificate (must not be older than two years at the time of application for admission):
- TOEFL iBT (minimum score 110)
- IELTS (minimum overall band score 8)
- Cambridge English: Advanced English (CAE) or C1 Advanced (Grade: A) or higher
• Two letters of recommendation by university lecturers from the university at which the Bachelor’s degree is being pursued/was earned.
Recommendations letters must not be older than six months and they must include:
- official letterhead
- date
- hand-written or digital signature of the author
If the recommending person is no longer active at the same university, the issue must be addressed explicitly in the recommendation letter. Please note that the University of Klagenfurt may contact the indicated recommending persons.
General Information
• The selection process for all scholarships is competitive, i.e. there is no legal claim to a scholarship even if all formal requirements are fulfilled. The total number of University of Klagenfurt Technology Scholarships that will be awarded depends on the quota and/or available funds.
• Grant holders must be present in Austria in order to study.
• Once an application has been rejected, it will not be considered any further within that call. However, it is possible to re-apply for this scholarship with a revised application in the future.
